ALTERNATE HISTORY:

After the fall of the Croatian Corporative State the Confederation of Croatia was formed. The new democratic government decided to remove the symbol of the nationalist party, which used to rule Croatia, from the flag. So they made the decision to replace it with the Croatian escutcheon. The croatian interlace wasn't removed from the flag because the governemnt agreed that it should remain a symbol for Croatian national pride.
